Context & Challenge
When the company rebranded and expanded its product suite, multiple teams were designing simultaneously - leading to inconsistent components, duplicated work, and a growing design debt.
We needed a scalable Design System to unify interface decisions, accelerate delivery, and reduce maintenance across products.
My approach
I mapped inconsistencies through an interface inventory and discussed them with designers, engineers, and product leaders. At that point, the business wasn’t ready to invest in a full Design System. While negotiations continued, we assembled a small committee of designers and front-end engineers who were motivated to move the initiative forward.

We started with design tokens, creating a centralized source of truth for styles. This enabled teams to begin building components independently, while still maintaining consistency and cohesion across products.

Later, the company decided to invest in a style guide, beginning with foundational styles and buttons. Together with another designer, I analyzed the visual language needed and refined each element through design critiques. When the business requested a core library, I created an initial set of components and iteratively expanded the UI Kit in collaboration with product designers through workshop sessions.
